In April 2026 we published a guest blog post by John Lang in which he introduced his "Climate Trunk" graphics project and website. Since then, he has been adding one graphic per week and plans to keep going for about 2 years rounding out the big picture of human-caused climate change graphic by graphic. In this blog post we'll show-case the graphics related to solutions and will keep adding more as they get published.
How the net zero transition happens: scaling clean tech, cutting emissions, removing carbon, adapting to impacts and building resilience
Wind turbines have grown from niche machines into towering giants capable of powering tens of thousands of homes. As the record-breaking SunZia project in the US shows, the next phase of the energy transition depends as much on building wires as building wind farms.
Building the world's biggest wind turbines is only half the game plan.
Most clean technologies are now moving from invention to scale. As they climb their S-curves, the challenge is building the grids, finance, infrastructure and skills that allow them to grow faster and higher. We have already invented most of the clean technology we need to decarbonise.
Across most of clean tech, the biggest gains are still to come.
