Fourth Assessment Report
The 4th report produced by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), released in 2007.
The IPCC has produced 3 earlier reports
The 1st report - First Assessement Report (or FAR) released in 1990.
The 2nd report - Second Assessement Report (or SAR) released in 1996.
The 3rd report - Third Assessement Report (or TAR) released in 2001.
Because of a clash between the acronym for the 1st report and the expected 4th report name - FAR for both - the 4th report was given the acronym AR4.
