Climate Science Glossary

The period of geological time following the Tertiary (65 Ma to 1.8 Ma). Following the current definition (which is under revision at present) the Quaternary extends from 1.8 Ma until the present. It is formed of two epochs, the Pleistocene and the Holocene.
