Cranky Cartoon (EN) - Spiral of Silence
For context, here is the text from John Cook's book "Cranky Uncle vs. Climate Change" which goes with the cartoon.
Breaking the spiral of climate silence
Your voice matters! While scientists are the most trusted source of climate Information, friends and family are the second most trusted. That means that your conversations can make a difference!
While most people are concerned about climate change, many of us never talk about it with family and friends. The main reason is pluralistic ignorance: we don't realize most people are also concerned about climate change. When we don't voice our concern, we reinforce the misconception of pluralistic ignorance, causing a spiral of silence. Debunking the misconception that most people don't care about climate change is important to break climate silence.
