Methane (CH₄)

Methane gas is both a fuel and a powerful greenhouse gas. It is the main component of natural gas, and when burned, it becomes carbon dioxide (CH₄ + 2O₂ ⟶ CO₂ + 2H₂O).

According to the AGGI, methane contributes 17% of the human-caused greenhouse effect.
